Diabetes
I work as a hospital clinician and deliver diabetes care. One of my main interests is improving diabetes management by lifestyle intervention which includes research into diet modification and exercise particularly for type 2 diabetes which is often related to being overweight or obese. Assisting people with type 1 diabetes to take part in sport or exercise through improved management of their insulin therapy regimens is also important. I am keen to see use of the outdoors environment to achieve both these aims and feel we are especially privileged in the North of Scotland to have access to such superb opportunities for any number of individuals, patients or otherwise, to enjoy the benefits of being outdoors in terms of general well being and improvements to pre existing medical conditions.
