I have worked for SNH for 6 years now. My role is to develop policy, manage research and partnership projects and provide advice to colleagues and partners on community involvement in the natural heritage and natural heritage in and around towns and cities, including volunteering, health and well-being, disadvantaged communities, greenspace and green networks and urban biodiversity. Prior to SNH I worked on community involvement and volunteering at nature reserves in and around London.
Contact with the natural outdoors is important to our health and well-being. In an increasingly stressed and urbanised society there is a pressing need to promote, encourage and enable contact with nature. Organisations working together, such as through the Outdoors and Health Network, is an important aspect of this.
