Prof. Martin Price
Director, Centre for Mountain Studies, UHI
Environmental Science
Professor Price is Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Mountain Development.
Since the late 1970s, Martin has conducted research in the mountains of North America, Western and Eastern Europe, and Siberia, focusing on the interactions of resident and visiting people with environmental processes, with particular emphasis on forestry, tourism, conservation, and the implementation of policies and interdisciplinary research.
I have enjoyed spending time outside for all of my life, especially in mountain areas - but also close to my own home on the edge of cities. A long time ago, I was an Outward Bound instructor in Zambia, and I strongly believe in the importance of being active in the outdoors for both physical and mental health.
