"We are interested in the links between health status and place: from general stats for Scotland, it looks as though people in rural areas have better health - why is this? We also want to know if people perceive health and wellbeing benefits from moving to or living in, rural areas and whether these effects last into the long-term - or change as people get used to living in places. We'd like to understand whether there are therapeutic effects of landscape and places and whether and how these can be harnessed and applied. These may affect different groups of people differently; for example a view may have more effect when you are older; it may be important to go to a place where you feel you 'belong' when you are older. We are also interested in the health and wellbeing effects of exercising in the natural environment, the effects of sunlight and view on exercise, for example."
