Landscape architecture
My research focuses on inclusive access to outdoor environments and the salutogenic benefits of such places. My interests include the links between landscape, health and quality of life for older people, for children and for teenagers. Current research covers: the influence of outdoor environments on people's physical activity, particularly walking; the contribution of public green space to deprived communities' well-being; and the behavioural links between access to green space and measures of health.

Innovative Approaches to Researching Landscape and Health: Open Space: People Space 2 (Hardback) - Routledge.
A book that I co-edited along with Peter Aspinall and Simon Bell has just been published by Routledge. It is called “Innovative Approaches to Researching Landscape and Health, Open Space: People Space 2″. The book addresses an increasing interest in salutogenic environments and the need for more innovative approaches to research them.
